They played about six songs. It was great and fun, but I’m glad I didn’t travel from another state for it like some people did, for such a short set.
So my sister, my friend and I were fortunate enough to win tickets to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Spank You Very Much 10th Anniversary show, which was held at Secret Project Robot in Williamsburg Brooklyn last night.
We got to the show early and found out that only 150 tickets had been sold. The band wanted to have a small group of rabid fans for the show and that is exactly what they got.
I didn’t bring my SLR camera to this show because I didn’t know if it would be allowed, but regardless, it probably would have gotten destroyed at some point because everyone went insane and I was mostly just trying to focus on staying upright. But here are the few pictures I did manage to take, some are of us and a few of the band. Don’t expect greatness, I used a point and shoot with flash and some are from my camera phone.
The show was a lot of fun, it was like a crazy house party. It was packed, there wasn’t any air conditioning, just a fan. The refreshments consisted of a couple of brands of bear, free cups of water which you served yourself from a cooler and a candy dish.
They opened with Rich, which I was able to take video of and here it is:
They went on to play a variety of their older songs including Y Control, Maps, Graveyard, Miles Away, Machine, to my delight, they played Art Star and Modern Romance and they closed with Heads Will Roll.
I think I have video of Modern Romance which I may upload soon.
All in all it was a great experience, I’m glad I got to be there. Great show, great crowd (expect for the one jerk who tried to lift my sister out of his way to take her place up front), it was a great night and a big thank you to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for such a great experience.
