Back in September of 2014, Julian Casablancas and the Voidz played a secret show at Shea Stadium in Brooklyn. Big Ups and Blood Orange opened. I never posted all of my pictures from that show, until now. When I finally remembered to update my wordpress. Enjoy. 🙂
Sky Ferreira played the Glasslands. In my friend Stephanie’s words, “She’s reached the level of popularity and respect where people shush other people for talking while she’s playing.”
You know you’re the woman when people in NYC line up to cram into a venue and stand in dead silence just to watch you play your guitars.
Metric played a last minute intimate show for fans only at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn last Wednesday. Metric is so great live, that I’m convinced they could do a show where they just play nursery rhymes and they would still be better than 90% of bands out today. I was waiting in line for the bathroom after the show and the girl in front of me turned to me and said, “They were so good, I’m destroyed, I think I might have been in a coma”. It was really that good.
I went to both of Fiona’s NYC shows. The Music Hall of Williamsburg show and the Bowery Ballroom show two nights later. I have a lingering obsession with her from my adolescence. I don’t listen to her every day, but when I found out she was finally playing some small venues here, all reason left me and I went ahead and bought some ridiculously over priced tickets on ebay and StubHub, the ticketmaster sale sold out in an impossible matter of nano seconds.
I will only be posting pictures from the first night. The second night I ended up in an awful spot behind some people who I am sure were around 7 feet tall and I couldn’t see, much less take pictures.
She was perfect. The new songs were as good or better than I expected. Can’t wait to buy the album.
